Quiet moments

Cache Valley Rendezvous Hyrum, Utah Photographer Cindy Maughan

For a number of years now, I have been a landscape and wildlife photographer.  For the last couple, I have been working on a project/collection to  try to get photographs of people that are unscripted and unposed.   Something that tells their story and talks to your soul without introduction.

As the winds of change move through my life, sometimes its hard to keep my chin up.  I try to remind myself that storm clouds add color to our sunsets :)

White Noise

There is something so soothing about the sound of a river.  It is a white noise that shuts off communication with the outside world and turns up the volume of my spirit.  I think more clearly and it washes away doubts and fears to reveal my inspiration.  When I leave the mountains, my soul feels lighter and I feel more focused.  Like God and I have connected and I am humbled.

A Lonely Old Tree

I loved this! I saw it on a trip from our home in Northern Utah to the reservation to lay my Aunt Mae to rest.  A lonely old tree

Where I come from

Wellsville Mountain Range PHotography by Cindy M Maughan Native Soul Gallery

I have taken pictures for years.  Common themes and patterns have emerged.  I live at the base of these mountains. I grew up here and these mountains were home base.  Grounding.  Rooted.  As the winter winds blow outside my window and goosebumps appear on my skin as a chill permeates the window next to my desk.  My head is swimming with ideas as I put up this blog and share with you my art, my soul.

Dear Universe

Dear Universe,  I am putting it out there.  I am constantly surprised what happens to me. When I was robbed a few weeks ago.  You think "I have insurance.  It will help us get by."  For twenty years you have paid faithfully into the policy and think to yourself that you "got this."  Statistically speaking, your time is up and you take a loss and all the safety nets you thought you had prepared to catch you, you find are an illusion as you free fall.

This is my life.
This is my journey.
Where to? My native soul...
